This 7 day whirlwind round trip will take you to some of Tasmania’s most magnificent natural treasures. Explore cultural Launceston with it picturesque Cataract Gorge and charming historical Penny Royal. Make your way to Devonport, home of the Spirit of Tasmania before sampling some top-shelf whisky in Burnie. Navigate down the west coast and explore Cradle Mountain with its reflective Dove Lake and cruise along the Gordon River on a world-class tour in Strahan.

Day 1: Launceston

Explore the scenic Cataract Gorge just two minutes outside of Launceston’s CBD with its many walking trails and bike tracks.  Take a ride in the world’s largest single span chairlift and experience magnificent views of the surrounds. Visit the charming Penny Royal or enjoy the Country Club Casino. Dive into the nearby Tamar River region and enjoy some of the state’s best wineries.

Day 2: Launceston to Devonport

Visit the Don River Railway in Devonport, home of the largest collection of steam locomotive and passenger carriages in the state or stop by the Bass Strait Maritime Centre and learn all there is to know about this famous stretch of water. Dine at a local restaurant serving the best of the area’s produce and watch as the iconic Spirit of Tasmania arrives from the mainland.

Day 3: Devonport to Burnie

Stop by Burnie’s famous Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery, Australia’s largest distiller of Australian single malt whisky. Visit the Burnie Penguin Interpretation Centre and witness these magnificent creatures waddle ashore at Dusk.

Day 4: Burnie to Cradle Mountain

Take time to experience the beauty of Cradle Mountain. Walk around stunning Dove Lake and immerse yourself in rugged Tasmanian Wilderness. Spend the afternoon at the local lodge cosied up beside a roaring fire.

Day 5: Cradle Mountain to Zeehan

On the way to Zeehan stop off at Rosebery and experience Tasmania’s tallest waterfall, Montezuma Falls. Explore the town of Zeehan with its rich mining heritage. Visit the West Coast Pioneer Memorial Museum to see some historic photographic displays and the Gaiety Theatre built in 1898. Take a 4WD tour of popular Oonah Hill.

Day 6: Zeehan to Strahan

Walk around the scenic Macquarie Harbour and witness Strahan’s historical buildings. Travel a short distance to the pristine sands of magnificent Ocean Beach or take an adventurous half-day fast jet boat ride up King River.

Day 7: Strahan to Launceston

Head back to Launceston and stop at charming Queenstown for a slice of mining history and a hearty pub lunch. Spend the afternoon at Launceston’s laidback seaport and experience outstanding cafes and restaurants with great views.
