On this two week motorhome hire journey you will experience the hype of the capital of Brisbane, golden coastal beaches, supreme whale watching facilities and the famous home of Mary Poppins’ author P.L. ITINERARY

Day 1
BRISBANE

Begin your motorhome hire adventure in the subtropical hub of Brisbane. Enjoy a coffee at one of the many cafes in South Bank, take a leisurely kayaking cruise up the Brisbane River or visit the Valley and enjoy a night at the city’s best cocktail bars and nightclubs. Whatever your travel style is, culturally diverse Brisbane has something to cater to everyone.

Day 2
BRISBANE TO NAMBOUR (THE BIG PINEAPPLE MUSIC FESTIVAL)
Distance : 150km Time : 1 Hour 25 Minutes

Wake early and navigate north toward the vibrant town of Nambour, home of The Big Pineapple Music Festival. Spend the day listening to Australia’s best contemporary artists including Bliss N Eso, The Living End, Art Vs Science and Spiderbait. After a hard day of partying, spend the night with your campervan or motorhome in Nambour.

Day 3
NAMBOUR TO NOOSAVILLE
Distance : 33km Time : 30 Minutes

Enjoy a luxurious sleep in before making the short thirty minute drive to Noosaville. Spend the day lying on one of the pristine beaches of the area, shop until your drop in Hastings Street or take a nature walk in Noosa National Park. At night, choose to dine in a range of award-winning restaurants, cafes and pubs located along Hastings Street, on the beachfront or in one of the neighbouring beachside villages.

Day 4
NOOSAVILLE TO HERVEY BAY
Distance : 180km Time : 2 Hours

Make your way to spectacular Hervey Bay and stay at one of the award winning campervan and motorhome holiday parks. Enjoy a relaxing morning having breakfast in one of the local cafes at Hervey Bay Marina before taking a magnificent whale watching cruise. Experience panoramic views at Matthew Flinders Lookout or hire a kayak or catamaran and explore the pristine blue waterways.

Day 5
HERVEY BAY

On day two in this unique coastal motorhome destination, visit World Heritage listed Fraser Island and experience a fun-filled 4WD adventure. If you want to explore the pure magic of the Great Barrier Reef take a scenic flight to Lady Elliot Island with its breathtaking reef and vibrant sea life. If you want to enjoy a slice of history, take a drive to nearby Maryborough where you will learn about the history of Mary Poppins and experience their famous market (Thursdays only).

Day 6
HERVEY BAY TO BUNDABERG
Distance : 110km Time : 1 Hour 20 Minutes

Take a day trip to the nearby World Heritage Listed Fraser Island and enjoy a rugged 4WD tour through the diverse environment. Experience a scenic flight to Lady Elliot Island and explore the pristine Great Barrier Reef with its vibrant coral, reef fish, dolphins, dugong, manta rays and sea turtles. Later dine in one of diverse restaurants in the area.

Day 7
BUNDABERG TO YEPPOON
Distance : 330km Time : 4 Hours

Enjoy the beauty of coastal Yeppoon and drink in white beaches, transparent water and fantastic walking and cycling spots. Stop by the Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary to cuddle a koala or hold a snake or view a spectacular collection of more than 20,000 shells at Shell World Yeppoon. Take a tour to one of the idyllic Keppel Bay Islands or just relax at one of the hip and laidback cafes dotted around the town. Choose from one of the top notch caravan parks to stay at.

Day 8
YEPPOON TO MACKAY
Distance : 350km Time : 4 Hours

Navigate north in your motorhome up the Sunshine Coast toward the charming coastal city of Mackay. Stopover in Rockhampton for a lunch break and wander through the historical city centre. Spend the afternoon wading in the Blue Water Lagoon in Mackay and later dine alfresco at Mackay Marina Village, one of the best mainland boating ports on the coast before returning to the comfort of your motorhome.

Day 9
MACKAY TO TOWNSVILLE
Distance : 390km Time : 4 Hours 30 Minutes

Spend some time getting to know Queensland’s vibrant city of Townsville. Cycle around the city centre and drink in the country atmosphere. Take a trip to nearby Magnetic Island and dive around “The Moltke” shipwreck and visit Reef HQ Aquarium and witness all the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef at the world’s biggest living coral reef Aquarium.

Day 10
TOWNSVILLE TO CAIRNS
Distance : 350km Time : 4 Hours 25 Minutes

Head to popular Cairns and relax beside one of the world-class beaches. Experience a Great Barrier Reef adventure and snorkel or dive amongst vibrant corals, unique wildlife and Listerine waters. Visit Tjapukai Cultural Park to learn about Australia’s rich Aboriginal history, get a dose of adrenaline in a tandem sky-dive over the spectacular coastline or bungy jump amongst World Heritage listed rainforest. In the afternoon become part of Cairns lively nightlife scene and visit one or two of the city’s best bars.

Day 11
CAIRNS TO CHARTERS TOWERS
Distance : 480km Time : 5 Hours 43 Minutes

Soak up the country lifestyle at Charters Towers. Wander around the city and marvel at the beautiful murals and historic architecture. Visit one of the museums to learn about the town’s unique heritage or pick up a craft or two at one of the local markets.

Day 12
CHARTERS TOWERS TO EMERALD
Distance : 477km Time : 5 Hours

Navigate towards Charters Towers and stop on the way to experience a unique tour of the Undara Lava Tubes. Enjoy a late picnic lunch amid rare flora at the Emerald Botanic Gardens. Take a snap or two of the idyllic Historic Railway Station and measure yourself up against the world’s largest Van Gough Sunflower painting, standing at an impressive height of 24 metres. Eat at one of the town’s best restaurants catering to all budgets and tastes.

Day 13
EMERALD TO CHARLEVILLE
Distance : 668km Time : 7 Hours 20 Minutes

Visit the hub of the South West and experience every day country life. Stop by the Royal Flying Doctor Base & Visitor Centre and learn about the history and daily running of the place and experience a Save the Bilby Night Talk and Tour where you will be introduced to the habits and habitats of these endangered marsupials. Return to your caravan park for some serious R&R

Day 14
CHARLEVILLE TO BRISBANE
Distance : 740km Time : 8 Hours 30 Minutes

Make the long drive back to the capital stopping off in Darby for a late afternoon lunch and to stretch your legs. Take a night tour down the Brisbane River and appreciate the lights of the city before making your way back to the comfort of your caravan park.
