8-Day Southern Tasmania Escape Road Trip

Morning: Pick up your motorhome from our Hobart branch and get familiar with your home on wheels before heading west through the picturesque Derwent Valley to Mount Field National Park.

Afternoon:  Wander through the lush rainforest to the iconic Russell Falls, then continue to Horseshoe Falls and Lady Barron Falls. If you’re feeling energetic, drive up to Lake Dobson for alpine scenery and short walks.

Evening: Relax at your campsite surrounded by towering swamp gums and native wildlife. Prepare dinner in your fully equipped motorhome and enjoy a peaceful first night in Tasmania’s wilderness.

Morning: Leave Mount Field behind and enjoy a scenic drive south through country towns before arriving in the beautiful Huon Valley.

Afternoon:  Visit the charming towns of Huonville and Cygnet, browse local galleries and produce stores, or stop at one of the region’s many cider houses and farm gates.

Evening: Settle into your campsite overlooking the Huon River and enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by rolling hills and orchards.

Morning: Head deeper into Tasmania’s southern forests with a stop at Tahune Adventures. Walk high above the forest canopy on the famous Tahune AirWalk, explore the Huon and Picton River swing bridges, and discover one of Tasmania’s most impressive wilderness areas.

Afternoon:  Continue south towards Dover, a peaceful seaside town overlooking the waters of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Take a relaxing walk along the beach or enjoy the views across to Bruny Island.

Evening: Settle in for a quiet coastal evening, cook a nice dinner in your motorhome with the sound of the ocean nearby.

Morning: Enjoy a slower morning exploring Dover and the surrounding coastline. Take a walk along Kent or Dover Beach, visit nearby beaches, or simply enjoy a coffee with views over the channel.

Afternoon:  Discover some of the hidden gems of the far south or local produce stops around the Huon Valley.

Evening: Return to Dover for another relaxing night by the water.

Afternoon: Spend a few hours at the nearby Hastings Caves and Thermal Springs to relax or simply slow down and enjoy Southport’s beautiful beaches and coastal views.
