How to Stay Organised on a Summer Motorhome Trip
It’s time to put the puffers and parkas away and bring out the swimmers and beach towels on your next motorhome journey!
Although you’re not hauling winter gear, summer supplies still take up a fair bit of space, so a few organisation hacks will become your best friends. The easier your gear is to find, use and put away, the easier life on the road becomes. That matters even more in summer when you go for a quick swim and somehow, half the beach manages to come back with you.
Luckily, keeping a motorhome organised does not require an elaborate storage system. A few clever habits can keep everything under control while still leaving plenty of room for the good stuff!
Before setting off on your next Cruisin’ summer adventure, try these storage ideas to keep the holiday home tidy while still bringing everything you need for some fun in the sun. ☀️😎
Stop The Beach At The Door
Sand has a talent for finding its way beyond the beach. ⛱️
To prevent wet clothes and sandy shoes from taking over the motorhome, create a little landing zone at the entrance using a bucket or bag for anything that’s still sandy and damp. Give everything a good shake outside to keep the mess contained by the door so it doesn’t travel into every crevice of the motorhome.
Wet gear deserves its own system too. Pack a couple of lightweight laundry bags so that dirty clothes can stay separate from damp swimmers, towels or sandy clothing. The shower can also be used as a temporary spot for wet swimmers to dry while the motorhome is parked!
Pro Tip: A removable seat-back organiser makes a handy grab-and-go station for the things that leave the motorhome with you all the time. Keep sunscreen, sunglasses, goggles and other small essentials close to the door to make it easy to grab on the way out and just as easy to put back before sand travels any further inside.

Shop Like You’re On A Road Trip
One enthusiastic supermarket sweep can make your fridge and cupboard space disappear quickly, so avoid the urge to buy in bulk as if you’re stocking your home pantry. While it might be cheaper, your storage space is also at a premium. Buy what you need for a couple of days ahead and top up along your journey. This saves space and leaves room for local goodies you encounter along the way.
If you’re storing loose produce (or anything that doesn’t have its own packaging), use square or rectangular containers to make better use of the motorhome cupboard corners. Stackable or nesting containers work well for motorhome storage too!
Pro Tip: Consolidate your food as you go. You don’t need to keep a huge cereal box taking up prime real estate when there’s only a quarter of it left in the bag.

Pack Smarter, Not Bigger
A hard-shell suitcase takes up more storage than you think. Soft duffle bags are much easier to work with in a motorhome as they can be folded or squashed down when empty. Use packing cubes to make better use of the space inside your bags, and they can also move straight into the cupboards once you pick up your motorhome. This keeps your clothes sorted without creating one giant pile every time somebody needs a T-shirt. It also helps to label them so they can be spotted at a glance!
Packing cubes are also handy for separating the things you reach for often. Swimmers can have their own cube while everyday clothes can be placed somewhere else, so you can grab exactly what you need without digging through several cupboards.
The same rule applies to everything else you bring from home. If something is bulky and unlikely to be used more than once, think about whether it really deserves a place on the trip. Gear that folds, collapses or packs down will always be easier to live with.

Make The Destination Part Of Your Living Space
One of the best parts of travelling in a Cruisin’ motorhome is that your living space doesn’t stop at the door. Once you arrive at your destination or campsite, make the most of the outdoor space. Moving meals and downtime outside gives everyone more room to spread out while keeping the dining area inside clear. You might even meet some fellow travellers around the campsite and swap a few motorhome tips along the way! 😉
An outdoor table and chairs are included when you choose the Maximum Cover liability package, giving you an easy setup for campsite meals or relaxing outside when the weather is too good to waste.
Half the fun of a motorhome holiday is opening the door to somewhere different and actually enjoying where you stop.

Do A Nightly Reset
A few minutes at the end of the day can save a lot of rummaging in the morning while everyone’s trying to get ready. Put belongings back where they belong, secure any cooking equipment in the drawers and empty any bags of wet clothing so everything has a chance to dry.
If you are heading to the beach the next day, bring the swimmers forward and make sure the wet bag is ready. If you are exploring town, pack what you need into a small day bag and leave the beach gear tucked away. There is no need to have the whole holiday within arm’s reach at once. A quick reset keeps the motorhome feeling fresh and makes the next morning much easier to get moving!
A spare reusable bag or foldable basket can also come in handy for those random things that accumulate during a road trip. Stow away brochures, small purchases and other bits and bobs at the end of the day so that they don’t take over the dining table, especially if you need to set up the bed for the night.
Once everything has somewhere to live, packing up becomes quicker and finding things becomes much easier, which means there is only one thing left to organise... Where are you heading next?
