Set on the main street of Atherton is a fantasy cave that was built by Rene so he could display his collection of crystals. It includes the largest Amethyst geode in the world which stands three and a half meters tall and has more than 600 individual pieces on display.
Rene travelled all over the world to find his collection of crystals to house in this fantasy cave for everyone to admire. The cave gives you a feeling of actually discovering the crystals yourself and you are encouraged to touch and photograph the crystals so you have some beautiful colourful memories to take home. Five hectares of beautiful tropical rainforest set next to the Mena creek falls. The owner Jose Paronella has built a castle with a picnic area, tennis courts, bridges, tunnel and also has a range of over 7,500 tropical plants and trees that have been arranged around the property to give it that beautiful rainforest tropical feel. Admission to Paronella Park is valid for 24 months and covers both tours. The tours are a guided walk that explains the story of Jose Paronella’s dream and guides you through the parks highlights. Then there is a Darkness falls tour which showcases the castles and waterfall and they light them up for a fantastic photo opportunity. Wildlife habitat is an advanced eco-accredited exhibit for visitors to freely mix with the animals observing them up close on elevated boardwalks. There are four different environments where the visitors will be able to experience this. The Savannah, Wetlands, Rainforest and Grasslands. The Mossman Gorge
The Mossman gorge is a beautiful relaxing tropical rainforest that has the most amazingly fresh cool water that runs over the rocks. With a nice little nature walk it takes you to a water hole that lots of the community congregate to for a nice fresh swim. There is also the ability to learn more about the cultural heritage of the indigenous owners with a dreamtime walk through the rainforest which is short and interactive. Walking around and parking is free but the dreamtime walk is at a cost but worth it to find out more about the history of the Mossman Gorge.
