Friday 13 – Sunday 15 July 2018
The Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival is back, come and join in on the celebration of the apple pickin’ history of the region. If you like the sound of dressing up and singing to the apple trees while banging pots and pans by firelight, then this festival is the one for you.
Join in on the age-old tradition of wassailing – essentially scaring away evil spirits from the orchard’s cider trees to ensure a bumper autumn crop.
If singing to the tress doesn’t tickle your fancies, then join in on a weekend of feasting irresistible local food, wine, beer and craft ciders. Keep warm and toasty next to the bonfires while listening to mesmerising folk music, dancing and storytelling, or sit back and relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Festival-goers are encouraged to dress up in some greenery, feathers, fur and leather or whatever you please as there are prizes up for grabs for best dressed.
The Festival is located at Willie Smith’s Apple Shed a 30-minute drive south of Hobart. Buses will be running from Hobart and return if you don’t want to drive. You can also pick up a campervan from our Hobart Branch and stop off and experience the winter fest during your motorhome holiday.
